Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008 $19.99 OR $17.99 IN A DOZEN
A long and late ripening period of short sunny days and cold nights has enhanced the typically vibrant flavours of the Marlborough Region. After harvesting the grapes were quickly crushed and pressed into stainless steel tanks where the juice was fermented at controlled cool temperatures to capture the intense varietal flavours. The wine was then blended and bottled. The aromas of lantana and wild herbs combines with tropical fruits and green apple. The palate is exuberant and intense-fruit salad, nettles and fresh herbs burst into existence and continue through the length of the palate, joined at the end by lime/citrus and mineral notes. A powerful and lengthy Sauvignon. It works well with a white meat dish. Great with oysters or green salad. Reviews –
WineOrbit Review, August 2007.
"They've hit a 6 with this wine. Full on passion fruit and feijoas with a succulent palate loaded with ripe fruit flavours. The zesty acid adds real life to the wine and lengthens the finish. It's gorgeous: pure and absolutely delicious. At its best now to 2008." - 94 POINTS - SMART BUY - 5 STARS.
Wine Advocate Issue #176, April 2008. - Thee 2007 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits a quintessential herbaceous nose with gooseberry and a touch of mango on the sharp, crisp, perhaps slightly raspy finish." - 87POINTS.
Cuisine Magazine, November 2007 - 4 STARS
Port of Wines Festival, Nova Scotia, 2007 - GOLD MEDAL

Henschke Henrys' Seven Shiraz/Grenache/Mourvedre/Viognier 2006 $33.49 OR $30.14 IN A DOZEN
The 2006 vintage shaped up as another high quality year but with only average yields in the Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills. After a late break in mid June 2005, winter and spring rains were some of the best for years in the lead up to flowering in early summer. Viognier co-fermented with shiraz, Grenache and mourvedre vinified separately. Matured in older French oak hogsheads for 15 months prior to blending and bottling.

Deep crimson in colour. Aromas of sweet, spicy blueberries, plums blackberries, anise and mace, with stone fruit and floral hints. Showing soft, rich and bright peppery fruit on the palate. The texture is juicy and lush with layers of velvety tannins and great length.

Excellent vintage, drink now to 2011.
Why not try with grilled spiced lamb with baharat.

TeKairanga Runholder Martinborough Pinot Noir, 2005 $47.99 OR $43.19 IN A DOZEN
Fruit was harvested in the cool morning, allowing the individual ‘parcels’ of grapes to reach the winery in optimum condition. The use of gravity to move the fruit and must has eliminated pumping, a significant benefit in the strive for quality.. Traditional fermentation with gentle plunging at six hourly intervals gave an excellent extraction of colour and tannins.

A glorious deep purple colour with aromas of dark cherries, plum and liquorice on the nose. There is an underlying peppery complexity is already evident at this early age. Classic sweet fruit dominates, giving a big, textured and concentrated palate with persistence and length. The rich silky tannin structure and subtle oak treatment complemented the rich fruit, giving a beautifully integrated and balanced wine.
